Aotearoa maker Craig McIntosh combines a deep respect for geological and cultural histories with contemporary techniques. Grounded in traditional carving, he challenges the purely reductive method by integrating technology, composite fabrication and critical inquiry into an ongoing exploration of material, place and identity.

A Pākehā maker, Craig engages ethically and sensitively with local stones like pakohe and basalt, questioning colonial traditions around land use and agriculture, and exploring how structural form, process and surface express memory, landscape and meaning in jewellery and object form.⁠
